Our children are our nation’s most valuable asset. They
represent the bright future of our country and hold our hopes for a better
nation. Our children are also the most vulnerable members of society. Most children know
more about the Internet than adults do. As a result, many parents do not
supervise their children's Internet use. There are many dangers
that your child can encounter while surfing the Net or hanging out in chat
rooms. Some websites are offensive and threatening because of their content. These
are the following tips for children while using internet:-
- Do not give out identifying information such as name,
home address, school name or telephone number in a chat room.
- Do not send your photograph to any one on the Net
without initially checking with the parent or guardian.
- Do not respond to messages or bulletin board items that
are obscene, belligerent or threatening.
- Never arrange a face to face meeting without informing
your parent or guardian.
- Remember that people online may not be who they seem to
be.
