In
the midst of the Corona crisis, a notice has been issued by the Supreme Court
to the UP and Central Government for allowing Kanwar Yatra. The top court has
issued notices to the governments and sought answers regarding the permission
given to the Kanwar Yatra. The court has decided to hear the matter on Friday.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, a bench of Justice RF Nariman has
issued notices to the Center and the UP government. Now the top court has fixed
July 16 for this hearing of the matter.
Justice
R.F. While hearing the matter, Nariman said that we have read disturbing news
that the UP government is giving permission to the Kanwar Yatra, while the
Uttarakhand government has banned it. While hearing the matter, the bench said
that on the one hand, PM Narendra Modi has told the need to take strict action
to deal with Corona. At the same time, the UP government is approving the
Kanwar Yatra. The top court has sought answers from the UP, Uttarakhand and the
central government on the matter by Friday morning. The court said that the
Kanwar Yatra is to start from July 25. Therefore, it is necessary to have an
early hearing on this important issue.
