Independent
MP from Amravati and actress Navneet Kaur got a big relief from the Supreme
Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the Bombay High Court’s decision to annul
the caste certificate of Navneet Kaur Rana. Along with this, the Supreme Court has
also issued notice to the respondents. A vacation bench of Justice Vineet
Sharan and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, while staying the order of the Bombay
High Court on June 8, issued notices to all the respondents and asked them to
file their replies within four weeks. The next hearing of the matter will be on
June 25.
Navneet
Kaur challenged the Bombay High Court’s decision to cancel the caste
certificate in the Supreme Court. The High Court had declared the caste
certificate of Navneet Kaur as fake. Along with this, the High Court in its
decision had also imposed a fine of two lakhs on Navneet Kaur. The High Court
has asked the MP to submit all the certificates within six weeks. Navneet
Kaur's membership was in jeopardy due to the High Court order.
Navneet
Kaur is accused of contesting the election through a fake caste certificate.
Navneet Kaur defeated Shivsena candidate Anandrao Adsul in Amravati (a seat
reserved for Scheduled Castes) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On the petition
of Anandrao, the Bombay High Court canceled the caste certificate of Navneet
Kaur. Navneet’s parents were originally from Punjab.
