Received
the assent of His Excellency the Governor General of India on the 12th
December, 1947, and was first published the East Punjab Government Gazette
Extraordinary, dated the 16th December, 1947.
An
Act to extend the period of limitation for appeals and applications which had
to be filed in the High Court of Judicature for East Punjab on 29th of
September, 1947
It
is hereby enacted as follows:-
1.
Short title and commencement.
- (1) This Act may be called the East Punjab Extension of Limitation Act, 1947.
(2)
It shall be deemed to have come into effect on the 29th September, 1947.
2. Extension of the period of
limitation. -
In computing the period of limitation prescribed in the Indian Limitation Act,
1908 (IX of 1908) or in any other law for the time being in force, for an
appeal or application to the High Court of Judicature for East Punjab where the
limitation expires on the 15th day of November, 1947 or has expired before said
day, the period from the 29th day of September, 1947, to the 15th day of November,
1947, shall be excluded.
