Distinguish between Pledge and Bailment

Pledge and Bailment can be distinguished as follows:-

Pledge
Bailment
1.      Pledge is a species of bailment.
2.   Pledge is defined under Section 172 of the Contract Act.
3.      A pledge is bailment of goods as security for payment of a debt or performance of a promise.
1.      Bailment is a genus.

2. Bailment is defined under section 148 of the Contract Act.
3. In bailment goods are delivered by the bailor to the bailee for some purpose upon a contract that they shall, when the purpose is accomplished, be returned or otherwise disposed of according to the direction of the bailor.
