Provisions relating to Bailee’s
particular lien is provided under Section 170 of the Contract Act.
2. The right of a particular lien
can be claimed by every bailee.
3.
The right of particular lien can
be claimed only in respect of goods upon which some labour or skill has been
exercised by the Bailee.

Provisions relating to general
lien is provided under Section 171 of the Contract Act.
2. The right of general lien is
granted to Bankers, Factors, wharfingers, Attorney of High Courts and Policy
brokers generally. Though under Section 171 the parties to the contract of
bailment can, by mutual agreement confer right of general lien on a bailee.
3. The right of general lien can be claimed
in respect of any charge due in respect of other goods.
